ACCORDING TO THE PROVISION OF THE ITALIAN DATA PROTECTION AUTHORITY N. 229 OF 8/5/2014

This document provides detailed information on the use of cookie and similar technologies, on how they are used by the Municipality of Arenzano and on how to manage them.

DEFINITIONS

Cookies and other online tracking technologies are small bits of data or code that are used to identify your devices when you use and interact with our website information to be reused during the same visit to the website (session cookie) or later, even after some days (persistent cookie). Cookie are stored, according to user preferences, from a single browser on the specific device being used (pc, tablet, smartphone).

While browsing a website, user can also receive cookie on their devices sent from different websites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), on which some elements may reside (i.e: images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the website user is visiting.

Cookie, present in users' browsers in very large numbers and sometimes even with characteristics of wide temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, session monitoring, storage of information on specific configurations concerning users who access the server, etc.
From here on, we will refer to cookie and all similar technologies simply using the word “cookie”.

KIND OF COOKIE

The Provision of the Privacy Guarantor "Identification of simplified procedures for the information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookie - May 8, 2014 (GU No. 126 of June 3, 2014)" identifies two macro-categories of cookie: "technical" cookie and "profiling" cookie.

"Technical" cookie
Technical cookie are those used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service "(Article 122, paragraph 1, Privacy Code).

They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into browsing or session guaranteeing normal navigation and use of the website. Analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies, help website owners measure how users interact with content, together with the number of users and how they visit the website; Functionality cookies remember choices made by the user in order to improve service.
This type of cookie does not require prior consent from the user, pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation 679/2016.

Website use of technical or similar cookie:
the website www.arenzanoturismo.it, shows the information banner according to the provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority N. 229 OF 8/5/2014 and installs a technical cookie on the visitor's device to demonstrate that the "OK" button has been clicked and which prevents the banner from being repeated. If this cookie is deleted, the banner reappears at the first step on the website.
The website installs, only on the device of its editors, a technical session cookie necessary to log in to the back office and update the web pages, too.
The website stores in a technical cookie the choice of language and the user's preference regarding the font size and the way the website is displayed (graphic, textual or high contrast) in order to guarantee users full accessibility to contents.
The website uses Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, which installs its own cookie to collect and analyze information on the behavior of use of the websites of Municipality of Arenzano by its visitors. These cookie are used to store non-personal information.

Google Analytics protects the confidentiality of your data:
- Google Analytics terms of service, which all Google Analytics customers must comply with, prohibit the sending of personal information to Google Analytics. Personal information includes all data that Google can use to likely identify an individual including, but not limited to, names, email addresses or billing information.
- It is not allowed to provide Google Analytics data to third parties without the customer's consent, except in some specific circumstances, such as when required by law.
- Google's security-savvy engineering teams protect data from external threats. Internal access to data is strictly regulated and subject to employee access controls and procedures.

Profiling cookie

Profiling cookie are designed to create user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the net. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation provides that the user must be adequately informed about their use and thus express their valid consent.
They are referred to in art. 122 of the Code where it provides that "the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or a user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given his consent after being was informed with the simplified procedures referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3 "(Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
The websites of Arenzano Municipality do not use profiling cookie.

"Third party" cookie

Visiting a website, it is possible to receive cookie both by the website visited ("owners") and by websites maintained by other organizations ("third parties"). A notable example is the presence of “social plugin” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. It is part of the page visited directly, generated by these sites and integrated into the host site page. The most common use of social plugin is aimed at sharing contents on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookie to and from all websites operated by third parties. Management of information collected by "third parties" is regulated by the relevant information to which you should refer to.

DURATION OF COOKIE

Some cookie (session cookie) stay active only until user closes the browser or the execution of the command logout. Other cookie “survive” the closure of the browser and are also available in future visits of the user.
These cookie are known as persistent and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. Sometimes a deadline is fixed, in other cases duration is unlimited.
Browsing the pages of the websites of Arenzano Municipality, you can interact with websites managed by third parties that can create or modify persistent and profiling cookie.

MANAGEMENT OF COOKIE

Users can decide whether to accept cookie or not, using their browser settings. The total or partial deactivation of technical cookie may compromise the use of the functionality of the site. The setting may be defined specifically for different websites and web applications.
